THE Election Commission, Punjab, started receiving nomination papers for by-election in NA 123, Lahore-VI, on Monday.

On the first day, five candidates Rana Naik Muhammad, Chaudhry Ghulam Mustafa, Haji Naveed Ahmad, Khawaja Abdul Qayyum and Haji Malik Muhammad Waheed submitted their nomination papers.

The last date for filing nomination papers with Returning Officer Zafar Iqbal Hussain is Feb 4, 2010. Scrutiny of nomination papers would start from February 6 to end on Feb 8. Candidates can file appeals against the decision of the returning officer till Feb 11.

The Election Commission Tribunal will give the final verdict regarding appeals on Feb 16 while candidates can withdraw their nomination till Feb 17. The commission will publish the revised list of candidates on Feb 18 and election in the said constituency will be held on March 10, 2010 (Wednesday).
