CHIEF Justice of the Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Tuesday postponed till March 26 the hearing of a suo motu of abduction of a girl and directed her mother to assist the police for her recovery.
The police had already informed the court that the allegedly abducted girl had contracted marriage against the will of her parents and was living with her husband.
The police said they were making efforts to trace the girl and some time was required for the purpose.
The chief justice was hearing a suo motu taken on an application of one Irshad Bibi of Gujrat who had complained that her 14-year-old abducted daughter was not being recovered.
The chief justice had sought personal appearance of the IGP as DPO Gujrat, who had been appearing in case, had gone on ex-Pakistan leave without informing the court.
The complainant had stated that her daughter was abducted on Oct 10, 2009 and a FIR under section 365-B PPC was lodged against the accused with police station of Kukrali, Gujrat. She alleged that the accused being influential people tried to get the case withdrawn through a compromise.
She alleged that on Nov 28, 2009, on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, the accused party tortured the applicant and her family and a FIR under sections 354/452/148/149 PPC was registered by the same police station. She stated that the accused dispossessed her family from their house and also expelled them along with their four schoolchildren from the village.
Earlier, on her complaint, the LHC Complaint Cell had sought a report from the DPO, Gujrat. The DPO had submitted that the case appeared to be doubtful and the girl had gone somewhere after quarrelling with her mother. |
